So, I’m from St. Louis but I haven’t lived there in a minute. I come back pretty regularly though, and I found out about y’alls new place and I want to tell you that I’m really happy and proud that finally SOMEONE has gotten it together to organize something like this. I feel like the city is and has been absolutely primed for a creative new venue and community center for years, and not only that, but I think it really needs it. I wish the complete best of luck to you folks, and I can’t wait to see what comes of the place.

As for suggestions, and bearing in mind that I don’t actually live in St. Louis, I’d really like to see somewhere have a legitimate, regular dubstep event. I certainly don’t know of one anywhere in the city, and everywhere I go to tends to play golden era hip-hop or some kind of soul-crushing European house or trance music. Get yourself some bruising subs, a handful of DJs with good records, and see what happens. Other midwestern cities–especially Minneapolis–have put together pretty decent scenes, so it seems possible for St. Louis to be able to pull it off as well.

Along with that, and I know that this would probably be logistically hellish, but it’d be great if there were a place in St. Louis that can stay open and play music late, as in past midnight. I’ve heard from friends that apparently the Old Rock House has some afterparty type events and that kind of thing, but A) I haven’t been to any and B) the more the merrier.

Like I said though, huge ups to yall for getting on top of this. Make my city proud!

i would really like to see some local bluegrass and folk music coming through our town. As well as jam bands(locally and nationally known) because it seems as though theres not a whole lot of this kind of organic music on the mainstream and i would always like to see more!! also thank you loyal family for seemingly already starting this revolution!

Saturday, June 12th, First time at 2720 Cherokee. Came to see NRPS. My friends and I had a great time! I like the openess of the place. The mother board artwork behind the bar was interesting. Nice way to use re-cyled products. You could use a few more table and chairs with backs especially for us “older music lovers”! didn’t make it to the gallery but definitely will next time.

That should be when Ivan and the Dumpstafunks will be there. What is the date on that show?

We appreciated the security and police guy outside after the show. We asked if he would walk us to our car….he did. That was an added bonus. We’ll be back.

One more thing, the NPRS poster in the window, what will you do with it?

thanks again …..”For a real good time!”

  22. 22 Brad said at 11:00 am on September 26th, 2010:

My first event at 2720 was when Caspa came…and it was amazing. 2720 is a great place for not only EDM, but all the other events hosted as well.

St. Louis was never that big on the EDM map until dubstep showed up. Most people arn’t going to want to come out for local DJ’s/or may not even hear about those events. I tell my friends about the smaller events, but they just tell me they’ll come when someone big is in town. Getting the bigger guys like Rusko, Datsik, Excision, Bassnectar, Phaded, etc is what will bring the masses to the venue. I had never heard of Spankalicious, nmezee, or Cody Breeze before Caspa but now that I have seen them I try not to miss many of their shows. I would say maybe trying to get a well-known DJ/artist ever month or two and that will probably bring a lot more people to the scene.

Borgore is still adding dates to his US tour, and all major artists have booking emails on their facebooks. obviously Rusko might be a little much, but the masses will turn out for others too.

i want to say that i love your venue, i started coming out at the beginning of this year to see a dubstep show and now i can’t get enough of 2720. I love the diversity of the artists and the interior of 2720 itself. Also the art gallery upstairs is great, i would recommend more seating and maybe a projector playing films from local film makers in and around the St.Louis area. As for artists that i would like to see at 2720….i recommend Datsik, Excision, Bassnectar, Dubconscious, Fatty Lumpkin, Zoogma, Hellfire Machina, Skream, Pattern Is Movement, Galactic, Messy Jiverson, Dumpstaphunk

I can name more and more

  28. 28 Kim said at 5:51 pm on January 30th, 2011:

I love your mix of art and music – my two favorite things!

How do you guys feel about poetry? I am a writer, so I think 2720 would be a great venue for poets to get a chance to read their work, music playing in the background to match their themes.

I think straight-up poetry readings would be awesome, but another idea to add is a poetry slam. My Alma mater would host these at a nearby bar, and they were very successful. Each participant brings in 3 poems. Everyone takes a turn reading their first poem. Random audience members are chosen to rate each poem. Then that group gets cut in half. Whoever has high ratings moves on to the next round, reads their second poem, and new audience members rate them until only a few people are left. After finally reading their last poem, a winner is then decided.

I myself have been looking for opportunities to read my poetry, so I think adding the written word to your schedule of creative arts would certainly be appreciated, and many would take advantage of the opportunity.

  33. 33 Bake Jingley said at 7:02 pm on June 14th, 2011:

    Whatsss up!?
I finally got around to checking you guys out, last night at borgore… pretty fuckin sick!!

    But on the real …
y’all should have a giant canvas or 2 .. for EVERYONE to “tag” or just doodle on. There were artists all around the stage which was cool, but uh …
everyone has a brain so why not let EVERYBODY contribute on a giant piece of paper?!
