A Unique Music & Art Venue on Cherokee Street in St. Louis

Fri 10.29 – Alex B & Big Gigantic + Cidlix

Alex B & Big Gigantic + Cidlix

Electronica / Hardcore / Hip Hop

8pm Doors / 9pm Show / 18+ / $15 ($3 minor surcharge) / Buy Tickets

ALEX B – Those familiar with Alex B already know that he tends to take a layered approach to everything, especially his music. His tracks are intricately crafted with painstaking care and attention to detail — a careful mix of analog and digital sounds elevated by imaginative samples and the insight of a classically trained musician. The result is a blend of timeless warmth and future beats that is as easily adaptable to introspective time with one’ s headphones as it is to group mania on a mobbed dance floor.

BIG GIGANTIC – the brainchild of Boulder, Colorado’s own saxophonist/producer, Dominic Lalli, and drummer, Jeremy Salken. Conceived in 2008, the duo found their niche and created a name for themselves in the electronic music scene. By combining vibrant jazz melodies over pulsating dance beats, Big Gigantic delivers an innovative, distinct sound that’s all their own.

CIDLIX opens the show at 9pm!

In summer 2008, Clams was the winner of two coveted trophies, for “Most Innovative” and “Most Comedic” at the Miss Exotic World Pageant, sponsored by the Burlesque Hall of Fame. She is also a Golden Pastie Award winner at the New York Burlesque Festival.

Tue 10.19 – CHEAPY $2 TUESDAY w/ J-San and the Analogue Sons + 18andCounting

J-San and the Analogue Sons

+ 18andCounting

Tuffsoul / Reggae / Rootsclash

8pm Doors / 9pm Show / 21+ / $2

Cheapy Tuesday is leaving St. Louis-ans with no excuse not to go out during the week… $2 cover, $2 16-oz PBR cans, $2 wells, and quality live music and art!

Front man rebel charm and forthright Dub-Rock make J-san and the Analogue Sons a life-force that evokes the integrity of Bob Marley and the earthy soul of Ben Harper. With J-san and the Analogue Sons we are united, reminded of struggle, inspired to seek resolution and yet left content… upfull and bright. …Dub-Rock music is born. J-san and the Analogue Sons have been making heads nod and bodies groove for over a decade. Imagine the Lover’s Rock stylings of reggae legend Gregory Isaacs, the socially conscious world/rock of Michael Franti & Spearhead, the energy of Ozomatli and you may begin to understand the Word-Sound-Power that J-san and the Analogue Sons will take you to.

With  their extraordinary sophmore effort SoundResistance on I-Town Records, these dub-rock warriors are sharing their music with the world. Son of radical vietnam vet father and Okinawan mother J-san was raised on the road. Living at times with artists and musicians and other times with ganja growers and hustlers, music was always a companion. J-san’s incredibly powerful vocals are reminiscent of the great soul singers of any era. Deftly moving from love songs dripping with emotion to fiery protest songs that send fists pumping and spines tingling!

J-san sings with real sincerity and universal love. Energy explodes from  saxophonist Lee Hamilton, who has gained critical acclaim as former lead horn and horn arranger for John Brown’s Body (J-san was also an original JBB member). On the organ and keys is Michael Stark doing double duty and giving the group a nuanced, dubby bass line courtesy of his Hammond B-3. Lars Burggren’s heavy drum brings the foundation.Kalani Logan, keyboardist for the legendary Itals holds down the guitar and harmony vocal.J-san and the Analogue sons have shared the stage with Toots and the Maytals,Burning Spear, The Wailers,The Itals, John Browns Body, Spearhead, Martin Luther,Isreal Vibrations, Easy Star All-Stars,Citizen Cope,Soulive,String Cheese Incident to name a few.The Music is a genre bending blend of reggae, rock, afrobeat and roots soul. Innovative modern sounds with a decidedly urban flavor that will at times make the dance floor tremble, and then make it sway. This is Dub-Rock for the 21st Century!

Stan Chisholm (a.k.a. 18andCounting) is an emerging interdisciplinary artist from St. Louis, Missouri who studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His drawings, paintings and mixed media installations reveal a growing cast of over 700 characters or mascots that serve as a visual lexicon for the moods, personal attributes or feelings explored in his work. Chisholm’s work has been exhibited at Laumeier Sculpture Park, City Museum (St. Louis), the Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis, and most recently with a solo exhibition at The Hyde Park Art Center. Chisholm is a nomadic packrat who kind of lives and works in St. Louis & Chicago.
