Whether you’re in a crowded club or overflowing dance floor, every Funktion show feels like a house party you were personally invited to. Maybe because the 7-man band swarms any stage like eager party-goers themselves – ready to throw down with everyone there until the keg is empty.
Funktion is a finely-tuned funk fusion band that combines all the soul of James Brown, the rhythmic beats of Earth, Wind and Fire and licks that would do Hendrix proud. They have vintage roots, with a re-imagined sound of something altogether new.
The band’s tight instrumentations come from years of playing together in various incarnations. However, just because the vibe is tight – don’t think you’ll get any sort of cookie-cutter performance that lacks spontaneity. When Funktion hits the stage, you feel like absolutely anything might happen.
The music is driven, delicious and derived from a collective music tenure that rivals any of their contemporaries. Each Funktion performance originates entirely from the heart. Each beat, rhythm, and percussive jolt comes from the place where blood pumps and inspiration is born.

8pm Doors / 9pm Show / 18+ / $15 ($5 minor surcharge) >> Buy Tickets

Born of Oakland, CA, the musical trio Beats Antique consists of producers, David Satori, Sidecar Tommy and world-renowned belly dance performer/producer Zoe Jakes, who helped inspire the thematic Middle East tempo of the band.
Growing like wildfire under the canopy of live electonica and world roots music comes Beats Antique, a masterful merge of modern technology, live instrumentation and seductive performance. Beats Antique combines the sounds of the Middle East and orchestral gypsy music with the styles of hip-hop, brass band, downtempo, glitch and dubstep in a new collage of music that is mixed and broken down with clever breakbeats for an adept international flair. Beats Antique is producing an un-charted style of music by adding live horns, accordion, glockenspiel, viola, string quartets, kalimba, clarinet and various unusual instruments to their big beat arrangements.
Beats Antique have also performed with an incredible list of artists including Bassnectar, Diplo, Tipper, Ooah, Yard Dogs Road Show, Jesse Rose, Plastician, MRK1, Ghislain Poirier, Glitch Mob, Adam Freeland, Ana Sia, Eprom, Mimosa, Mike Relm, Haj, Laser Sword, Sub Swara. They have performed at sold out shows in some of the countries most well known venues including The Fillmore, Great American Music Hall, El Rey and the Bowery Ballroom.
Beats Antique is best imagined as an innovative creature built from the cumulative heritage of the world’s music chasing its tail. However vivid that image, when a marching band groove crashes into bluesy folk chords only to be accompanied by electronic beats and Middle Eastern melodies, you’ll still be surprised.

Loyal Family presents…
MarchFourth Marching Band (Portland, OR)
Big Beat / Theatrics / Alternative
8pm Doors / 9pm Show / 21+ / $10 >> Buy Tickets

MarchFourth Marching Band is a mobile big band spectacular, consisting of a brassy pack of saxophones, trombones, and trumpets, a raucous drum/percussion corps, anchored by a mobile and wireless electric bass. The sound is huge, melodic, and dynamic, taking audiences on a musical journey around the globe. MarchFourth wri…tes and performs its own material, and also draws inspiration from an eclectic range of worldwide influences, such as Eastern European gypsy brass, samba, latin, funk, afro-beat, big-band, jazz, and rock music, as well as television, film, circus, and vaudeville.
Stilt-walkers, unicycles, fire-eaters, puppets, flag twirlers, burlesque dancers, clown antics, and acrobatics are just some of the things you’ll see accompanying this eclectic big band. MarchFourth Marching Band’s stilt-walkers are world-class, performing acrobatics, dance routines, and even fire dancing on stilts — all in fanciful costumes. The other dancing beauties can fill the stage with mesmerizing original dance routines (inspired by bollywood, hip hop, jazz, cheer leading, burlesque, ballroom, and more) or spread out into the audience and get everybody dancing. The musical quality, the energy of the band, and the spectacle of the dancers all combine to create an original performance that appeals to everyone. Without guitars or keyboards, M4 “rocks” with the best of them, entertaining the audience with an over-the-top explosion of performance, color and charisma.
To MarchFourth Marching Band, art is life. Aside from being performers, the members of MarchFourth are also full- or part-time artists, designers, and craftspeople. All their drum harnesses (welded from recycled bicycle parts), stilts, costumes, merchandise, audio, and visual propaganda are designed and produced by members of the band.
