Medicine Music - w/ Mike Love + Kalya Scintilla & Eve Olution

Friday, May 13 @ 8:00:pm

Welcome to MEDICINE MUSIC! — This is a new series brought to you by Connector + GoodVibes STL + Loyal Family.

Medicine Music merges the tranformational vibes of the Connector Temple series with the jammy family vibes where our roots are buried.

Please join us as we co-create a positive atmosphere featuring great music, quality production, vendors, live art and much more.

.:: Mike Love ::.
Revolutionary music may seem hard to come by in these days and times. Long gone is the era of artists like Bob Marley, The Clash, Stevie Wonder and Patti Smith getting airplay and bringing their messages to the masses. But that doesn’t mean that the revolution isn’t still brewing in the hearts and minds of many people around the globe.

Meet Mike Love. One of reggae music’s rising stars. Born and raised in Oahu, Hawaii to a musical family that spans generations, Mike Love brings a multitude of influences to the table, all tied together by the common goal of making the world a better place.

.:: Kalya Scintilla & Eve Olution ::.
This incredible duo sets the stage for an intentional future ancient ritual with mythic expression to create a kinesthetic tapestry to scintillate your being awake. World fusion beats manifest into visceral living archetypes that come to life before you, the pulsing vibrations cascade infinite ripples of geometric harmonies throughout the dance floor, and together we are danced into the nectar of celebrating life. In the sacred union of both crystalline sound architecture and the unique style of embodied ritual theatre, Kalya Scintilla & Eve Olution invite your soul into an alchemical experience of divine art devoted to the heart.

HOMESCHOOL IV - 05.14.16http://2720cherokee.com/event/homeschool-iv/http://2720cherokee.com/?post_type=events&p=3021

Saturday, May 14 @ 6:30:pm

*******Yo! Adrian! Presents********

Homeschool is an annual multiple genre event celebrating some of the St Louis area’s favorite DJ’s, Producers and Musicians.

As always, we are looking forward to another very special night of music! Each year we would like to switch it up with the artist lineup as much as possible as variety is the spice of life! There is a lot of talent to choose from in our city which is the best part about theis annual event!

Please remember…SUPPORT LOCAL! That is what this event is all about! Everyone on this bill is hand selected as some of the premier talent that is currently being extracted out of St Louis to play in other cities, festivals and events alike or is well on the path to doing so! We will be treating all of these artists with the works as if they were being brought in from another city!

This event/opportunity is for all local DJs, Producers and Musicians alike to spread their visions!

—————-PLEASE NOTE—————-

***If you are a local DJ/Producer and you are not on this bill…that DOES NOT mean that you aren’t qualified! We hand picked all of these artists and there is simply not enough room to have everyone we wanted to play! Also, this will be an opportunity for all those that we may not know about to GET THE WORD OUT THERE! SO….COME OUT AND SUPPORT! PUT YOUR MUSIC OUR EAR! This event/opportunity is for all local DJs and Producers to spread their visions!***

Ahleuchatistas - 05.18.16http://2720cherokee.com/event/ahleuchatistas/http://2720cherokee.com/?post_type=events&p=2994

Ahleuchatistas - w/ guests

Wednesday, May 18 @ 9:00:pm

Ahleuchatistas is guitarist Shane Parish and drummer Ryan Oslance on a musical odyssey of pure imagination, limitless in influences, combining tight-knit composition with improvisation, and delivering powerful live shows.
The project was founded in 2002 and has evolved organically in its near-decade long history as the muse leads through the creative sonic continuum…
About the name, two words were once married to give an identity and conceptual continuity to a musical enterprise without limits.
Ah-leu-cha & Zapatistas.
The first is the title of a Charlie Parker song, the second that of a revolutionary movement which began in Chiapas, Mexico in 1994.
Musical revolution and social revolution combined into a single coinage.
Movement and the constant outstripping of itself are what unifies all the sounds under this single name.

“Music doesn’t get much closer to the edge than this.” – Alternative Press

“…remarkably tight, with the ability to turn complicated and seemingly unrelated phrases on a dime.” – NPR

“Formerly a trio, the band…has pared down to a duo….The new sound…has…a much greater emphasis on ragged, high-tempo garage prog brutality and spine-chilling soundscapes. 4stars[Location, Location]” –DownBeat

“…There’s noise and fire in their playing, but most of these tunes are also studded with signposts, demanding close attention and clear execution. …” – NY Times

“Not superfluous or simply framed on a crash-and-burn musical ethic, Ahleuchatistas translates into a mindset that circumvents stereotypes or anything that links to a product-driven formula. Loud, rebellious, and riotously invigorating, the band tears down convention to impart a unique identity and sprawling musical plane, unbound by traditional applications or instilled with acquiescence.” – All About Jazz

Karaoke Underground (from Austin TX) - PUNK ROCK KAROAKE

Wednesday, May 18 @ 9:00:pm

The Karaoke Underground is a DIY punk/indie video karaoke show from Austin, Texas, featuring more than 1,000 karaoke videos from artists like Fugazi, Sleater-Kinney, Jawbreaker, Black Flag, Descendents, Pavement, Pixies, Bikini Kill, Guided By Voices, Misfits, Rilo Kiley and many more. In addition to hundreds of shows in Austin since 2004, KU has toured outside Texas to the Midwest, West Coast and Northeast, as well as played festivals like Matador 21 in Las Vegas and Fun Fun Fun Fest at home in Austin. Karaoke Underground was also featured in 2014 articles on Noisey/Vice, Consequence Of Sound and Buzzfeed.

Karaoke Underground returns to 2720 Cherokee on Wednesday, May 18, as part our second Midwest tour of 2016. This will be the third KU show in St. Louis, after well-attended nights at 2720 Cherokee last summer and The Heavy Anchor in February. Karaoke Underground is fresh off visits to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Houston in April.

You may not love Crass or Bikini Kill, but you’re going to connect with the person who gets up and sings them, because it’s something they really love.
